Study depicts revitalized steel industry
A study released April 21 by Dr. Timothy J. Considine of The Pennsylvania State University revealed a stronger, leaner North American steel industry is emerging from significant restructuring and consolidation. The report, commissioned by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), indicated steel has outperformed the overall manufacturing sector in labor productivity and is creating seven jobs in other economic sectors for every one direct steel industry job.
